Neanche fossi una statuetta di ceramica su un mobile TV
Zona Planetaria presents a II-Acts project called “Neanche fossi una statuetta di ceramica su un mobile TV” by Claudia Dagostino. The ACT I sees the collaboration between the artist and the dancer Lidia Serini investigating which meaning we can give to a body in a rural context. The ACT II sees the collaboration between the artist and XFARM Agricoltura prossima. In San Vito dei Normanni, in the heart of Puglia, XFARM is transforming 50 hectares of confiscated land organized crime in an agricultural, ecological and social company capable of generating work, community wellbeing, and ecosystem improvement.
ACT I: Body
The artist uses an interdisciplinary approach that sees drawing, movement and writing as the main tools of expression, to position herself in a fragile and ambiguous field such as that of body care under stress. According to Claudia Dagostino, the body is an instrument through which specific actions and gestures are carried out, complex tasks are carried out, in an ecology of simple and silent movements where care is positioned at the limit between ambiguity and timid discipline. Claudia Dagostino tackles the everyday life of a body without judgment, which forgets, which allows, with criticism and irony. Her drawings, delicate and playful, dialogued with a metaphorical and incisive poetics of the movement, a hallmark of the performative path of Lidia Serini, a dancer with a solid international background. The two artists developed a routine of preparatory movements for fruits harvest through a gentle analysis of a body that, if trained, can become a survival device for that almost unknown place that is the earth.
ACT II: The harvest
The second act of Claudia Dagostino's residency revolves around work and time. To investigate these issues, the artist collaborated with the XFARM Agricoltura prossima, a social cooperative, founded in 2017 in San Vito dei Normanni. As a result of a series of meetings and dialogues with the founders of XFARM the artist has developed a ritual calendar. This choice arises from the need to mark the passage of time and to link the rhythms of our life with those of caring for the land. The calendar illustrates the different phases of XFARM's agricultural work in an attempt to propose a more ecological, social and community time management.
