About the place

The area

Zona Planetaria rises in the unique panorama of the Itria Valley, 2 km from the centre of Locorotondo, which can be reached in a 15 minutes ride or a 40 minutes walk. Its strategic position allows to reach the nearby towns of Cisternino, Ostuni, Martina Franca and Alberobello in a few minutes by car. 

Zona Planetaria is also located 25 km from the Adriatic Sea and 50 km from the Ionian Sea. It is located in a rural area, where shops are limited and finding a taxi can be difficult. It is recommended to hire a car.

The house

Zona Planetaria is an example of a restored Italian multi-roomed house composed of a series of trulli.

As a typical trulli house, Zona Planetaria has one room under each conical or domed roof, built from solid limestone blocks, which provides thick walls that help guests enjoying cool during the hot summers. 

It is composed of five trulli rooms recently restored according to the original architectural standards. It consists of a comfortable living room / art gallery with sofa bed, fully equipped kitchen with hob, sink, oven, and refrigerator, a bathroom with a comfortable shower, a double bedroom facing the fruits trees garden and a single bedroom with a stone fireplace. 

Outside the house, there is a big courtyard with a garden which includes local flora species and some fruits trees alongside two cars parking spaces and a separate bikes storage room.

The garden

The cherry on the cake of Zona Plantearia is the orchard from where you can taste delicious fruits. It included of an apricot tree, a secular fig tree, olive trees, almond trees, plum trees, two different species of apple trees, prickly pears, a pear tree, and persimmon tree among many others.
