The Bakery of Slow Ideas
Zona Planetaria presents The Bakery Of Slow Ideas (TBOSI) by Leo Kay, a temporary baking and fermentation space with an open-door policy facing out and welcoming in the local community; to bake, to dialogue, to engage in art & ritual practice and to consider fundamental sociopolitical and ecological themes. TBOSI focuses predominantly but not exclusively on the act of Sourdough bread baking and want to be a space to consider how we can move away from patterns of physical, psychological, and ecological damage and burn out, driven in part by a society-wide trend towards hyper expression and hyper-productivity.
βIt is durational, socially engaged and about the necessity for time and space to think, to sense & to digest. A space to consider difficult conflictual ideas in an atmosphere of open acceptance of difference within a culture that often pushes us towards extremist, rigid positions of attack and defense. It is a practice looking for alternatives to these anxiety-filled, product-driven, modes of experience that sit on the shoulders of a colonial construction of dominance, of power over, of a hierarchy of worth, of nature as a resource and the positioning of humanity above all else.β - Leo Kay
